Fermentation
Fermentation of sugars from lignocellulosic material
Main Objectives:
To develop a fermentation process of sugars from lignocellulosic material pretreatment and hydrolysis (chemical and enzymatic). The process contemplate the hexose and pentose fermentation separately, using microorganisms adapted to each substrate, high temperature and/or high ethanol concentrations. The system configuration considers the use of high cellular concentrations and the coupling to a continuous ethanol extraction in order to relieve the inhibition by product.
